To Big Ten or to not Big Ten that is the Question

blog qoutes for grob

Greg Robinson - Syracuse: One really has to wonder what Coach Robinson and his staff have been doing in the off-season, coaching this football team or playing tiddly-winks? The Orange played bad against Washington, missing tackles, making stupid mistakes, lots of penalties, etc., but much worse for Robinson, it look like his team quit on him in the second half. Something is very wrong in Syracuse if your team is quitting on you in the 1st game of the season, and somebody on that staff better start coaching these players or all of those coaches are going to find themselves out of work, and very soon.

On to the latest Coaches Hot Seat Rankings, and here are your Top 10 Coaches on the Hot Seat:
1. Charlie Weis - Ty isn't looking so bad now. Genius? What a joke!
2. Houston Nutt - Run the ball Houston! What a nut, make that a stupid nut!
3. Mike Stoops - Bob Stoops has a job for you, so don't fret.
4. Greg Robinson - Mack Brown has a job for you, so don't fret.
5. Tommy Tuberville - The jet is warming up, and Tubby gets the big $!

My question is what are they going to say when you get blown out of Louisville.

Donovan McNabb

As a Die hard cuse fan i love and support all former Syracuse players. That being said you are making it alot more difficult to support you when your constantly speaking out your a$$. Did you wake up yesterday and decide i have not been in the news in a few days! We let you slide on your Vick statement!

pass for 300 yards, our team wins by seven, [mimicking] 'Ah, he could've made this throw, they would have scored if he did this,' " McNabb tells HBO.

Do you agree with Donovan McNabb's claim that black quarterbacks face more scrutiny than their white counterparts?
Yes
No
"Doesn't every quarterback go through that?" Brown asks.
"Not everybody," McNabb replies.
Brown then asks if the media is tougher on him than on white quarterbacks such as
Carson Palmer and Peyton Manning.
"Let me start by saying I love those guys," McNabb tells HBO. "But they don't get criticized as much as we do. They don't."

Hey Donovan you might want to take your head out of your a$$. Look at Rex Grossman, he went to the super bowl last year and now they want to run him out of town. last time i checked he was white. How about the Manning's. Up until now Peyton was the biggest choker next to Custard and dont get me started on Eli! What are you thinking!
Next time you bitch about pressure, people not appreciating you go take a look at your bank account, last time I checked you were getting paid! Shut up and take it.

ps can't wait to hear from his parents.

Bob Costas

Did anyone here the rantings of Bob Costas today on Jim Rome.
Allow me to quote this "I believe blogs are mean spirited and uniformed." He also rants on that blogs are a bad thing and they should not be taken seriously. I really don't think that anyone who sells his sole to HBO should ever say anybody else should not be taken serious. Mr. Costas allow me to clear something up, Just because a person is not on T.V. opening up his big mouth just to hear himself speak does not mean we are not informed! Every post i right is my own beliefs and thoughts, if I right about facts then check them before i right them! You might want to think before you start preaching. Mr Costas just remember, we the blog writers are the one's in the trenches. When was the last time you spoke to a fan, and what i mean by fan is a person who pays for his own tickets and cheers a team or person on cause they want to, not cause they are getting paid for it!

Grobs job!

I have been hearing alot about Greg Robinson's job security over the past few days. Yesterday afternoon, i was listening to the only local sports talk show in Syracuse.(more on that later)

Bud and the Manchild was having a debate over Grob:

1. Must go now
2.Finish the year
3.finish his contract

The thing that stood out the most was Bud saying that Greg should stay as long as he earns his time. I am no rocket scientist, but has he earned one game this year. I agree year one and two are freebies but they should be on the upward spiral, not still on the downward! Lets face the facts, Greg Robinson is a great guy, never gets upset, never frowns, is great for the community, BUT HE IS NOT GREAT FOR SYRACUSE FOOTBALL. Picture this, you are a 17 year old kid and you are being recruited by Syracuse, Rutgers, Penn State, and lets even throw in UConn. Now what school do you cross of 1st. Rutgers, Penn State, and UConn have a combined record of
9-0 vs Syracuse's 0-3. Now lets talk about total points:
Penn State: 135-34
Rutgers: 138-54
UConn: 105-31
now lets see what SU has done:
30-118

Now factor in Getting Blown out on national TV, then on the big ten network(thank god nobody get that station), and then on ESPN U which everyone with cable gets now.

Lets see now where am i going to go. Lets break this down some more, Syracuse can Offer playing time, start right now, and, and, nope that's it.

If i am a recruit,I have to be saying to myself why in my right mind would i want to get my butt kicked week in and week out, and not even look good doing it. Look at Joe Fields, he could start on any top 25 team, but because this team is so bad he looks like a bum. I have to say There is not a shot in hell any top recruit would come here unless a change is made. What change could it be:
1. new turf
2. new orange paint in the dome
3. some stupid statues that don't look like anybody
4.new coach with experience turning programs around(Dr. Gross you fooled us once that will not happen a 2ND time) I do not care what Pete Carroll says!

I have to say a new coach might be able to turn the tide, MIGHT BE ABLE!

So getting back to the whole coaching thing, My theory is this, Syracuse should cut there losses now, allow one of Grobs assistants to take over for the rest of the season(you might get surprised), Phil Early or Brian White could fill in nicely(lets face the facts it can't get any worse). Anyways by doing this a few things could happen, players might get a fire lit under there A$$ and you send a message now to possible recruits. Here is the message, We are Syracuse, We are not going to accept mediocrity, come here and win with us!

Who would of thought that a little boy from a small village outside of Syracuse would have such a following. Chris M. another local die hard, has brought to my attention that one of my favorite blog sites, Troy Nunes is an Absolute Magician has reposted one of my posts.(i do not believe that was grammatically correct, but i am too excited)

I would like to thank him for the support and i hope that one day i can be that inspiring!

does this look like anything you have seen before

If anyone showed up to the game early on saturday then they saw SU warmup, no joking aside it looked alot like this, only thing worse was bishop ludden football coming out holding hands in '96.

Grob should use this speach on his defense

Wow, pretty rough!

Fan Support

As i was walking up to the dome on Saturday, i was talking to my friends about how many people they expected to be inside. As i descended the steps to my seats i could not believe the amount of empty seats. Don't get me wrong, i am the first person to bitch about how bad this team is, but i am also the first one to say lets go to the game. As much as it pains me to give a school money week in and week out, I still do it. Do you know why, cause i bleed Orange, I grew up on the Orangemen and I am going to die watching the Orangemen. Lets face the facts, Crothamel was right, they are the only horse in town, but that does not matter, they are my team, 0-12 or 12-0, it will never matter! I urge everyone get off the couch and get to the dome for the next game. Support our losers, cause they are our Losers!

My Orange Brethren,I received a call from Pete Carroll after the Nebraska game at about 3 am et. His message was a thank you for giving him the opportunity to coach at Sc. It reminded me of how long it took us to get to that point.Football is a slow turn, but when you fix it it seems like it was always good. Truth be told, it took us 10 years to have the greatest run in football history, but it was worth it.We will win here!!! (Not saying it will take 10 years!) That's all I know. I hear your concerns and as bad as you feel, I feel worse. I want you to know, I have been exposed to this situation before and will solve our football woes.Meanwhile, keep whatever faith you have left and be patient. This tough period will be a distant memory one day.

Let's go Orangemen,
Daryl Gross

We Need a Change Now

Well it’s Sunday morning and the hangover from flat dome beer has finally subsided and my thoughts of Saturday’s game are now clear. Even though the offense showed glimpses of hope that the west coast offense finally clicked, I can’t stop thinking that there is no hope for this team now or ever. Coaching seems to get progressively worse every game. I have seen evidence of these two weeks in a row. Allow me to paint the picture. The half is winding down; the Orange finally looks like they might have something figured out because they have moved the ball. Know I am not saying they are marching down the field but the ball is moving and they have strung together a few 1st downs. The problem is the clock is quickly ticking away. The obvious thing to do here is call timeout, call a play that might get you some points or put you in position to score. The crowd is on their feet, (all 20,000 of them anyway, more on that later this week) Arob Breaks the huddle and starts barking at the line, hut, hut hike. Arob three step drop, handoff up the middle, end of half. I am fine with the coaches wanting to run out the half, but why call the timeout. I think this is mind boggling, somebody should tell the coaches that just because you have the timeouts doesn’t mean you need to use them.
The obvious problems with the coaching are there inept ability to use the players they have to their fullest abilities. Let’s face the facts; this team will never run a viable west coast offense. The oline will never give arob enough time to pass the ball downfield, and the d line will never stop anybody by blitzing every down. Now my thoughts are these.
1. Pack all those West Coast plays up, and institute a proform offense. Now this accomplishes a few things, you put more people in the backfield to block. Now this is where Grob and his brain trust of coaches might get lost, the more blockers you have the more time the qb gets to pass for more than 2 yards.
2. After passing a few times downfield, you open up this thing called a running game. If they really want to get tricky they could, wait a minute, deep breathe, do I say it, PLAYACTION.
3. Now onto the defense, this defense is so bad, there is no hope, this bothers me the most because Grob was hired cause he is a defensive mastermind, what a crock of SH?&! What I Have noticed is that these linebackers do not stay home, they over commit and then big holes open up allowing mediocre offenses to look like the Colts vs the Raiders.

Wow, wait a sec, let me catch my breathe.
Ok, I can’t blame all this on the coaches; the players that wear orange week in and week out do not have the talent to hang with any d1 school. I hate to say this but they should not be here they should be at some d2 or d3 school. Receivers can’t catch, linebackers can’t tackle, and offensive linemen can’t block. There are a few exceptions, Joe Fields seems to be involved on every defensive play, and the punter Rob Long can kill the ball. Arob seems to be a leader, I watched him on the sidelines and he was trying to get the players up. His problem is his passing is erratic, it's high, low, behind, and in front. Curtis Brinkley, I would like to give you a well deserved appology from everyone in syracuse, you do not deserve this, you should be running behind people that want to block and and that can!
The most disheartening thing is the faces of the players, they are not in the game, they are staring into the stands, pouting and down. Now I would be like that too, but show some pride for the players that wore that jersey before you did. Do you think Dwight Freeney, Don Mcpherson, Marvin Graves, Tim Greene and or any of the others would ever act like that, I don’t think so! I hope you guys are working hard in class! If you don’t want to be here then go home.

Dr. Gross you have some serious problems on your hands, good luck!

For the next home game we can retire Tom Coughlin's number. When he's in the building we can lock him up until he agrees to stay and help!
