chance for an upset

I have been pondering the question, what are the chance Syracuse can slay another dragon this week! this is what i have come up with;

option1- Steve Slaton and Pat White come down with chicken pox and can't play.

option2-Syracuse has been bluffing the entire country and really are as good as they say they are!

option 3- Syracuse dresses the '87 team. i don't think anybody would catch on! ARob and Donny could be brothers!I think this is our best chance by the way. Lets go Donny, run the veer(sorry i just watched We Are Marshall)

Look can you really tell them apart(i have my eyes closed)

In all seriousness, is there any hope for a win against West Virginia. My heart says yes but I just don't see it. My only hope is that Grob and his brain trust grows a set of balls. Go for it, there is nothing to lose. Leave nothing on the field, take chances!

What Syracuse has going for them:

The dome, your in the loud house, magic could happen. (that's the dome)

West Virginia could look past us

the 87 team could fire this team up

Hey your Syracuse, crazier things have happened!

The ghost of Coach P could stop by and show GRob how to play defense and run the veer(sorry again)

Good luck Orange!

The cuse is in the house oh my god oh my god!

bone heads of the week

It's a three way tie between Travis Henry, Marion Jones, and Greg Robinson(sorry had to connect this to Syracuse)

Somebody should tell Travis Henry that pott is an illegal substance in the NFL and in the USA. I know its tough to remember, but Travis here is a rule you should live by, if you can't buy something in a store, then it's illegal!!!!!! As for needing to have "my people" over seeing the test, what are you trying to hide!

Marion Jones, did you really think that denying that you took steroids, the government would just drop the case! i don't think so. your just the first domino to fall, watch out Barry, your next! Oh and by the way flax seed oil does not make you stronger, so the fact that you are bigger, stronger, and faster then you were ten years ago did not set off the bulb in your brain!!!!!! Oh and lets not forget that you are so stupid that you are rubbing and taking crap that you have no idea what it is!

Greg Robinson what in gods name where you thinking when you did not go for it at the end of the first half, then on the forth and one at the end of the game, and then that retarded pooch kick. Way to keep Miami of Ohio on their toes! OH I FORGOT YOUR PLAYING FOR A BCS BOWL!

money

Gross has had zero problems in the past raising money for things like the NYC campaign, redecorating the dome, those statues, and let’s not forget the melo facility. Let’s put this rumor to rest right now. If they wanted to buy out the remainder of his contract the y would. There are so many alumni and fans that would throw money at Syracuse right now to make a change. Last rumor I heard was that Gross wanted to change the dome seats, I am sure that all the fans that go to the games will sacrifice their asses for another year or two for a coach that can win! Also don’t forget the obvious equation here:

Syracuse wins=more bowls=more fans=more TV spots=more money

Possible replacments

I have been doing some research on possible replacements if this season goes down the path it is right now. Dr Gross I am going to save you some time and money here, there is no need to hire a staff, or call your buddy Pete. Here are the names of whom I think should be the top three candidates, Start now, we all now what is going to happen at the end of the season!

1. Tom Coughlin

This is all you need to know:

After the 1990 season, Coughlin returned to Boston College to take on his first job as a head coach. In three seasons at BC, he turned the program into a consistent winner. Coughlin's tenure was capped with a 41-39 victory over #1 ranked Notre Dame in 1993.
By the way: SU Grad and Former coach!

2. Randy Edsell

All you need to know:

"Randy Edsall has done a tremendous job of transforming our football program over the past six years," says UConn Director of Athletics Jeffrey Hathaway. "He has proven to be the perfect fit for our school and our team. He has drawn well upon both his NFL and collegiate experiences to rapidly develop this program and prepare it for BIG EAST competition."

ps rumors are that he wants grobs job!

3. George O'Leary

All you need to know:

After two off years, O'Leary rebuilt the program into a consistent winner, leading the team to a victory in the 1997 Carquest Bowl in Miami, Florida. O'Leary's 1998 team went 10-2, defeating its arch rival the University of Georgia for the first time in 7 years, as well as the University of Notre Dame in the Gator Bowl. For the remainder of his tenure at Georgia Tech, the team went to a bowl game every season.
Honorable Mention
1. Kevin Rogers

hell; why and when

I have been doing some research on how bad things have gotten. Let me tell you they are pretty bad. Out of the 119 division 1 schools, Syracuse is rated 109. On the offensive side of the ball only 5 teams are worse then SU. On defense, seven teams. How about this Stat guess how many points separate Syracuse and buffalo, give up .50 of a point. That means if Syracuse gets blown out and buffalo wins or keeps there game competitive then Syracuse could be ranked below buffalo. Can you believe that Buffalo would be the number one team in New York State? How bout this stat, Teams that are rated higher than Syracuse who have not even one:
104 Marshall
103 Louisiana-Monroe
86 Colorado State
I never thought that I would see the day that a 0-4 Louisiana-Monroe would be ranked higher than a Syracuse team. How did this happen. I can Pretty much pinpoint the downfall of Syracuse football.

color scheme

in an effort to make this the best blog ever, i have heard complaints about the colors and how they are difficult to read to i have decided to change things up alittle, what do you think?

"i didn't see it coming"

After taking a deep breathe and letting that loss set in, i have decided i am even more upset. I was having lunch today with my friend Ted A. and he brought up a great point. Syracuse is allowing a coach who has never been a head coach learn how to be a head coach. Here in Syracuse we have come to accept certain things. It is so widely accepted that even Dr Gross, Nancy Cantor, and even Jake Crothamel has spoken of them.

Here is the list:
had to finish in the Top 25
finish in the top three in the Big East
frequently participate in bowl games
and continue high graduation rates.

Clearly we are not passing any of those guidelines(accept maybe the last one), nor are we even close to getting to that point.

When you have a coach that says things like:

"Well, I come in here and I tell you that ... that was unacceptable. Obviously, our football team was not prepared properly, and that comes right to me. Mentally and emotionally, I didn't see it. Did it pick up a little bit in the second half? Yeah, but not good enough. We still found ways when we looked like we were going to give ourselves a chance to get back in the game, we still shot ourselves in the foot."

well Greg who's job is it to prepare your team. This is your team and your are the one who is supposed to get the job done. Let me repeat this, you are the guy who need to get things done. You clearly are not getting things done. Week in and week out i am hearing the same excuses. We were not ready, we were not prepared. well why are you having problems when all the other coaches aren't, do you need more time, i am sure that the NCAA could maybe give you a bye week between every game! But hangon, you could not get your team prepared for the first week when you had the entire off season. What is the problem?

on seeing this coming?
No, I really didn't. I really can't tell you that I did. I thought that we worked well. I did. I don't know if it's from Thursday to Saturday that we lost something, I don't know. It's really hard to analyze that and come up with an answer right now. I need to first see the film and see what happened and go from there?

Well Greg why are you not able to keep the energy level up after a huge win over Louisville to a mediocre team in Miami of Ohio. This seems like another aspect of your job description.

Does it make it worse coming off a win last week that there should have been carryover?
"That's what I would've expected. Whatever the motivation is, the fear of losing or the excitement of trying to get better. Obviously, we weren't motivated well enough to perform the way we're capable of performing"

see above on this one no need to keep harping on it.

Here is a question i would love to have asked

Why are you constantly so undecided in play calling during crucial time?
This has been a major issue all year. Why are you not going for it on 4th and 1 on your own 50? In all reality what do you have to lose here. I realize that you have no run offense. but come on what does it hurt. (they started on the 40 anyways)

How about the end of the 1st half, why not go for it. you yourself are talking about playing in a bcs bowl, so in all reality what does it hurt to be more aggressive. I thought it worked pretty well against Louisville.

Now Lets talk about that! Greg BCS Bowl? what are you thinking. This team has lost to Iowa, Washington, Illinois, and now Maimi of Ohio. I hate to Break it to you but these are not BCS caliber teams. How do you think you would fair against a USC, an LSU, how about cal or Ohio State. I really Believe you would get man handled and if you think otherwise you insane, and that might be the problem.

I hope to see all you cuse fans in the dome Saturday, They need our support more than ever!!!!!
good luck Orange i hope you guys can pull of another upset!
Go SU!!!

Greg Robinson is Right
September 29th, 2007

“Well, I come in here and I tell you that … that was unacceptable. Obviously, our football team was not prepared properly, and that comes right to me.”
- Greg Robinson after the Miami loss
Coach Robinson tells it as it is. Unfortunately for him, he is the coach of the team that was not only “unacceptable” today, but for the great bulk of the past 3 years.
